Pola Hubungan Ketinggian Lahan dan Tingkat Keparahan Serangan Babi Hutan (Sus scrofa L.) pada Lahan Budidaya Nanas (Ananas comosus [L.] Merrill) Lokal Pamboang

Abstract

The local pineapple variety "Pamboang" (Ananas comosus) represents one of the biodiversity (flora) assets of the community in Betteng Village, Majene Regency, West Sulawesi Province. However, the presence of wild boar (Sus scrofa) poses a significant threat to the cultivation of Pamboang pineapples, with geographic factors suspected to influence the affected areas and the severity of the damage. This study aims to analyze the relationship between land elevation and the severity of wild boar attacks on Pamboang pineapple cultivation areas. The research adopts a quantitative approach through correspondence analysis. This analysis was processed using R software to visualize the relationships between variables. The variables analyzed include land elevation, the extent of land affected by wild boar, and the severity of the damage. Land elevation is categorized into five groups: 210-260 meters above sea level (masl), 260-310 masl, 310-360 masl, 360-410 masl, and 410-460 masl. The results indicate that land at an elevation of 210-260 masl experienced damage over more than 50% of the area, with moderate severity. Meanwhile, at elevations of 360-410 masl, the affected area ranged from 30-50%, but the severity of the damage was very high. This study recommends more effective wild boar pest control strategies based on the elevation of Pamboang pineapple cultivation areas in the Majene Regency.
