Abstract

Palm oil is a plantation commodity that has high economic value and has important meaning. The increasing growth and production of palm oil cannot be separated from disease attacks. One of the diseases that attacks is stem rot (BPB). The aim of this research was to test the resistance of oil palm plant varieties to Ganoderma boninense attacks. This research was carried out at the Plant Protection Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Bengkulu University from December 2023 to April 2024. The method used in this research was a biochemical resistance test which included salicylic acid content and phenolic compound content in oil palm plants. The three varieties of oil palm plants used in the main nursery phase, namely the Simalungun, Yangambi and PPKS 540 varieties, are transmitted by the fungus Ganoderma boninense. Next, the growth is observed by observing the symptoms caused by the plant and calculating the percentage of attacks. The results of the research showed that the samples of Simalungun, Yangambi, and PPKS 540 varieties of oil palm plants experienced the same growth against stem rot disease.
